Christmas Spectacular!

The musical brilliance of a contemporary composer, Mark Hayes, is featured in this concert. Hayes’ Gloria captures the excitement of the Christmas story in music, and the serenity of the angels’ message of “peace on earth to those of good will.”  Of particular importance on this program – and performed for the first time in Colorado –is Hayes’ Hodie, Christus Natus Est - A Carol Fantasia. Each of the three sections is based on a much-beloved Christmas carol. Hayes scores his Hodie for choir, soloists, and orchestra with the addition of a handbell choir that adds a shimmering texture to the music.  The concert includes Christmas carols for choir and orchestra arranged by John Rutter, Dan Forrest and Harry Simeone.  The Chancel Ringers, directed by Jonathan Faires, solo with music of the season offering the unique sound of combined bells and chimes.
